HOD’s Message – Mechanical Engineering

I take the privilege to welcome you all to the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Our department was established in the year 2004 and has produced nearly 15 batches of mechanical engineers till date. The emerged graduates are well placed in India and abroad.

We have a team of well qualified, experienced, devoted and dedicated faculty members to cater to the needs of our students. We aim at developing hard skills as well as soft skills in our students. In addition to black board teaching we incorporate innovative pedagogical techniques in the instructional process for a better understanding of technical concepts. Power point presentations with required simulations will be presented to impart technical know-how to the students.

Expert Lectures by renowned resource persons from both Industry and academia will be organized periodically to enlighten the students with latest development in the field. Technical Seminars, Workshops, organized periodically to develop practical skills.

Apart from dealing with curricular activities the department also focuses on organizing extra-curricular activities to develop soft skills such as communicative skill, leadership qualities, enthusiasm, etc in our students. A slot of 3 hours in the class time table will be reserved for conducting extra-curricular activities. Thus, during every week activities such as pick and speak, group discussion, technical debate, technical quiz, etc will be conducted.

Industrial visit is also a part of our academic activities. Industrial visit will be planned at the beginning of each semester and the students will be taken for visit to various industries to provide an insight into the real working environment of the industries.

The department has an effective mentoring system. A batch of 20 students will be attached to a mentor. The mentors will have counseling session once in a fortnight during which each student will be investigated with regard to the study plan, capabilities and interests, strengths, weaknesses, personal desires, goals, etc. Based on the investigation, the mentors will provide both professional and personal advice to the students to achieve their long-term goals. The personal grievances will also be addressed in the mentoring session.

The department trains its students at par with the needs of the industries to enhance their employment potential. It also provides proper career guidance to the students to achieve good number of placements through campus selection process. Therefore, if one gets into the course offered by the department one can acquire sound technical knowledge and the allied skills and build up a career in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

I hope that we will continue to deliver our best and we will be happy to receive your suggestions for further improvement.

Thank you for visiting us.
